Spiced buttermilk/Sambaram

A sambaram is a welcome drink in Kerala. It is believed that a glass of sambaram given to the guests of the house eould bring prosperity to the guests as well as the host. It is also a perfect remedy for the intense summer heat as even a small sip can cool down our body. It can be used as a drink or can be served as a curry with rice.
Ingredients
Low fat Yoghurt : 1 cup
Water : 2 cups
Curry leaves : 2 sprigs
Coriander Leaves : Few
Ginger : 2inch piece
Green chillies : 2 nos
Salt : to taste + a pinch more
Crushed ice : as needed
Method
Whip the Yoghurt and add  water to it.
Clean and separate the curry leaves from the stalk. Chop the curry leaves along with ginger and green chillies.
Add few crushed ice cubes along with salt, and blend all the ingredients together.
Puree until smooth.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer, if you want.
Transfer to a large pitcher and chill in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes, if you prefer it. I prefer to drink it without cooling it.
